Retinal pigment epithelium

pigmented layer of retina หรือ retinal pigment epithelium (ตัวย่อ RPE แปลว่า เยื่อบุมีสารรงควัตถุของจอประสาทตา หรือ เยื่อบุมีสารสีของจอประสาทา) เป็นชั้นเซลล์ประสาทด้านนอก (ไปทางสมอง) ของจอประสาทตา RPE มีหน้าที่ในการหล่อเลี้ยงเซลล์ประสาทและยึดอยู่กับชั้น choroid ที่อยู่ถัดออกไปอีกและกับเซลล์รับแสงที่อยู่ถัดเข้ามา[1][2]
